10th Anniversary Concert
...the Sinfonia showed no qualms in their interpretation...

Tonight’s concert is a celebration of our 10th anniversary and we are joined by the Bristol
Cathedral Concert Choir, Bristol Phoenix Choir, the City of Bristol Choir and the Exultate
Singers to perform Mahler’s mighty, and rarely heard, 'Resurrection' symphony. From the
savage funeral rites of the first movement, which according to Mahler asked the question
"Why have you lived?" the music leads through the beautiful inner movements to the
monumental climax of the huge choral finale, with its overwhelming ending of spiritual
certainty and exultation. James Lowe, Associate Conductor of the Royal Scottish
National Orchestra, is joined on this occasion by two distinguished soloists for what
promises to be a truly memorable evening.
